I found out I have Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus just after my 26th birthday. I am fine, please don't worry, it is just going to be a huge lifestyle adjustment in the coming months.
Wow man. Suxors. If you ever get to the point where you're making most of your food, I've heard there are wheat substitutes (Spelt is at the top of my head) that have better glycemic indexes than wheat flour.
I lost an uncle last year to diabetic complications. Of course, he was kinda dumb and couldn't figure out the concept of blood monitoring and diet changes. :-P
Hmmm.... Not a good bday present at all. Lifestyle change for sure but managed well and it can be just fine long term. They have devices now too for auto injections. My brother in law's gf had one on her hip with an implanted shunt that worked well. New stuff all the time and you're young enough to see it develop. Hang in there Matt.
